This lets the overall height of the keyboard remain a little lower profile. They are smaller than standard, similar to Logitech' s, but unlike the Logitech' s, they are short physical keys. The keys are short and crisp in use even for a rubber dome keyboard. I settled on this keyboard as my main keyboard mostly for its gaming feel but is also well suited for everyday use. I have tested many, many keyboards from Logitech, Razer, and multiple other 'gaming keyboard' manufacturers. There are also 6 macro keys with 3 banks, this adds up to 18 macro keys total which you can record on the fly or customize them with the included software and set up complex things accurate to the millisecond. The Caps/Scroll Lock/NumLock lights are clear and and easy to see so you know if you accidentally pressed one since you can see it out of the corner of your eye.

The little calculator button above the numpad is extremely handy to have and I use it often. The multi-media keys are extremely usefull, especially if you are using something like a headset or earphones that don't have volume control. The rubber pads are excellent, grips the desk very nicely and the desk will move around before the keyboard does! The keys feel perfect. While it does reduce portability a little since it is not detachable, that makes it very rigid. The wrist rest is extremely comfortable and prevents you from scratching yourself on sharp desk edges. I also associated a Logitech Anywhere MX mouse with the K400 unifying receiver for when that is easier for certain tasks (gaming) than the K400's mousepad.I have had this keyboard for +2 years and would not think to switch to another. So I cannot even ssh to the Pi to try to troubleshoot.Ĭurrently (other than ssh) the only keyboards I have that work for the Pi are a wireless Logitech di Novo Edge (older one that requires forcing the Pi to USB 1.1 with dwc_otg.speed=1 in cmdline.txt to avoid dropped or sticky keys) and a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard/mousepad that works fine for me with mini-WiFi, without slowing up USB or using external USB hub. I bought a small GearHead wireless keyboard/mousepad reported to work on the Pi (it does work in Windows or Linux PC without any drivers), but for me it totally disrupts USB (including ethernet) whether its dongle is directly on the Pi or on powered USB hub. The generic wired keyboard that came with my Dell computer used to work fine in the Pi with Oct Raspbian (and still works on a Linux PC), but somewhere in Raspbian updates, no longer works at all on the Pi.

So which devices work or not on the Pi may depend upon 'when' (which Linux distribution and firmware). But USB on the Pi is still work in progress (which will see more effort this year). I hadn't even thought of trying my X4 with the Pi due to its backlighting (I use it for 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 on my PC).
